The Real Cost of Those Eggs pt.73

They did it:  May 20th, 2026, the arrival of masked federal agents at a church in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday sent some worshippers fleeing into the woods while children sobbed inside, witnesses told The Charlotte Observer. The ICE agents, who mobbed a group of church members doing yard work, did not ask any questions or make any attempt to identify themselves before arresting one man. The Observer did not report the name of the church.

Within the last year, federal agents seized a man in front of a church, brandished a rifle at a pastor and detained a grandfather dropping off his granddaughter at a church school in Los Angeles, according to the lawsuit. Federal officers have also recently chased several men into a church parking lot and arrested a parishioner at churches across southern California, according to church leaders. “As a result, people across the country, regardless of immigration status, reasonably fear attending houses of worship,” according to the lawsuit. “The open joy and spiritual restoration of communal worship has been replaced by isolation, concealment, and fear.

They can’t: Former CNN anchor Don Lemon was arrested by federal agents in Los Angeles late Thursday on charges related to an immigration-enforcement protest that disrupted a church service in Minnesota. Lemon, who now works independently, was covering the Grammy Awards when federal agents took him into custody, his lawyer Abbe Lowell said. On social media Friday, Attorney General Pam Bondi said Lemon and three others had been arrested at her direction.

Independent journalist Georgia Fort was arrested on January 30 for     her coverage of a Minnesota protest that took place earlier this month at a church in St. Paul. News of her arrest has gone viral on social media, and sentiments of shock have reverberated across newsrooms, press freedom circles, and advocacy movements, with many puzzled about the details around her arrest. More specifically, what her arrest may mean for women in media and journalism who are navigating an already challenging socio-political media landscape. Georgia Fort is an award-winning journalist and the founder of community-focused outlets, including BLCK Press and the Center for Broadcast Journalism. A livestream by Fort on the morning of her arrest has been shared across various social media platforms, recorded just before she was taken into custody. In the video, Fort explains that federal agents were at her home to arrest her after receiving a warrant for her arrest from a grand jury. As the video plays, her children's cries can be heard in the background. Fort shared that her arrest was in connection with her coverage of an anti-ICE demonstration in St. Paul earlier in January.

                               Meanwhile

The Fulton County election office in Georgia was raided by the FBI on Wednesday, escalating President Donald Trump ‘s years-long false claims that there was mass voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election. According to CNN, the raid is part of the Justice Department’s effort to seize election records as part of a broader probe of alleged voter fraud in the county, which includes Atlanta. In December, the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division sued Fulton County, along with several states, seeking copies of ballots from the 2020 election. In December, the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division sued Fulton County, along with several states, seeking copies of ballots from the 2020 election. Fulton County was a major focus of Trump’s election conspiracy campaign. The county is composed mostly of Black, Hispanic, and Asian voters who played a major role in Trump’s defeat in Georgia. Trump’s efforts to overturn the election in Georgia eventually led to criminal charges brought by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in 2023; however, the case was ultimately dismissed after Trump was re-elected in the 2024 election.“Trump is terrified of what’s coming in the Midterm elections this year. He’s afraid of Democrats who will actually hold him accountable winning out in the May primaries. And he’s trying to interfere more broadly with the General election outcomes in November, 2026”

                            The Grift on Top

The so called “working man’s president” Is suing the IRS and the Treasury Department for $10 billion, alleging they failed to take necessary steps to prevent a former IRS employee from improperly disclosing his tax returns, and those of his sons and his company, to news outlets. The lawsuit, filed Thursday at a federal courthouse in Miami, says Trump is suing in his personal capacity, not as president. The other plaintiffs include two of Trump’s sons — Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump — and the Trump Organization. In his first year back, Trump has raked in 3.4 billion dollars.

                                 We Are Here

For months, we have been yelling about Trump. slipping America into Authoritarianism. Well, if you are still thinking “We are slipping into” what more proof do you need?  He Lies, he grifts, he doesn't give a shit about the courts. The DOJ is hi own taxpayers' justice system.  He tries to bend the world to his own liking. He insults & tries to ban the free press. He calls everything fake news if he doesn't look good in any particular story. He tries to bankrupt anybody who says anything bad about him or his administration. He has threatened colleges if they don’t teach the Trump curriculum. His greed for money and power is more important than you and your family health or way of life. ( e.g. The victims of the Epstein files) The expression Elections have Consequences has never meant more than they do now. We long for protest marches, No Kings Day rallies, As of now we refresh our sanity and hope and strength from our neighbors in Minnesota. We cling to the dream that one day soon that President Dump and his goons are in our rear-view mirror.
