Don’t Worry, Trump Said!!

ree

The Real Cost of Those Eggs pt.41

Just reading the daily headlines I find myself saying

“What!!!!  kind of bullshit is that?”

So, after a vigorous online back and forth with a trump supporter

It comes down to several issues,

  1. Biden did the same thing.

  2. Trump said.

  3. Trump won, you lost

  4. What about Hunter?

So, the one that gets to me is the pledge Trump Said.

So, you type back

“But It’s a Lie”, no way is his reply “Trump said”.

Trump has recently made statements that go beyond typical political spin and veer into confabulation—a psychological phenomenon where a person genuinely believes invented stories:

—------

MIT Uncle and the Unabomber: Trump claimed his uncle, a professor at MIT, told him he had taught Ted Kaczynski (the Unabomber) and praised his intelligence.

In reality Kaczynski went to Harvard, not MIT.

Trump’s uncle died in 1985—11 years before Kaczynski was arrested and publicly identified

—-----------

Drug Price Math: Trump said drug prices would drop by “1,000 percent, 600 percent, 500 percent, 1,500 percent”—a mathematically nonsensical claim

—--------

And for just because Epstein Files: Trump falsely claimed Obama and FBI Director James Comey fabricated the Epstein files, even though both were out of office by Epstein’s 2019 arrest

—----------

Trump’s word salad helps distort the events of the Capitol riot, He claims those he pardoned “didn’t assault” anyone and were instead “assaulted by our government,” reversing the documented reality of the events.

Covering Trump's lies is like counting snowflakes, good luck with that.

The ongoing question is, how and why would anybody not just believe but stand by his crap?

Let’s dive in

. With help from Psychology Today

So why people believe what Trump says is a mix of psychological, social, and political reasons

Authoritarianism: Many Trumpers score high on authoritarian traits—favoring strong leaders, strict social hierarchies, and obedience to authority. His rhetoric, which often includes absolutist language like “losers” or “complete disasters,” appeals to this mindset.

Source Amnesia: Neuroscience shows that people often remember information but forget where it came from. When Trump repeats false claims frequently, they can become embedded in long-term memory without the context that they were debunked. Over time, repetition makes misinformation feel true

Fear and Grievance: Trump taps into feelings of fear, loss, and resentment—especially among those who feel culturally or economically marginalized. His narrative of victimhood (“the deep state is out to get me”) resonates with people who feel similarly targeted.

Us vs. Them Mentality: His messaging often frames issues in stark, tribal terms—patriots vs. traitors, real Americans vs. elites. This binary worldview simplifies complex issues and strengthens group loyalty

Media Ecosystem

Echo Chambers: Conservative media outlets often reinforce Trump’s claims, Lies and more lies creating a feedback loop where misinformation is repeated and validated. This makes it harder for contradictory facts to break through.

Distrust of Mainstream Media: Many Trump supporters believe mainstream outlets are biased or corrupt, so they reject fact-checks or critical reporting as part of a broader conspiracy.

Identity and Loyalty

Political Identity: For some, supporting Trump is part of a broader conservative identity. Admitting he’s wrong would mean questioning their entire worldview.

Charismatic Leadership: Trump’s confidence, simplicity, and combative style make him appear decisive and authentic to many—even when he’s factually incorrect.

So, no matter what it is we all have a free choice of what to believe in. If you are a New York Mets Fan “You Gotta Believe"

"Believe in better."

"We believe in your potential."

"Believe in bold ideas."

"Believe. Build. Become."

"Innovation starts when you believe."

"Together, we believe in change."

"Believe in kindness."

"Believe in a brighter tomorrow."

"Believe in unity, act with purpose."

"Believe in every voice."

And in some parts of America “Believe in Trump” some have gone as far as “In Trump we trust, question the rest”

Damn you Merrick Garland
