Shhhh, America, Your Stupid is Showing

The Real Cost of Those Eggs pt.50

Instead of worrying about 5 journalists getting killed in a bombing raid in a hospital in Gaza, which, of course, Netanyahu says was a terrible mistake. Or better yet, whatever this was. Here in America, we are worried about the Cracker Barrel Logo.

I’m a strong believer that ever since the introduction of smartphones

We have become the stupidest nation on earth. Need more facts from

Over 3,275 deaths in 2023 were caused by distracted driving in the U.S. alone. Texting while driving is especially risky—it takes your eyes off the road for about 5 seconds, which at 55 mph is like driving the length of a football field blindfolded. Young adults (ages 25–34) are the most common age group involved in fatal crashes while using phones.

Pedestrian fatalities have surged—7,522 deaths in 2022, an 83% increase over the past decade. People walking while texting, using GPS, or scrolling social media are less aware of traffic signals, obstacles, and vehicles.

States like New Mexico, Florida, and Louisiana have the highest pedestrian death rates due to inattentive walking

The Everyday Oopsie

Falls and injuries from walking into poles, fountains, or even off curbs while glued to screens.

Public transport accidents, like missing steps or doors, are increasingly reported.

Workplace injuries occur when employees are distracted by phones around machinery or in hazardous environments

Let’s talk Etiquette

Now, depending on where you're from, this topic has many checks and balances

If you're from the Midwest, you have a milder mood about you. If you are from the Northeast, beware of the good old-fashioned

“Go fuckyourself.”

So, how have Smartphones helped us with the word Etiquette?

“Phubbing” (Phone Snubbing) Ignoring someone in favor of your phone has become so common it has earned its own name. Whether at dinner or during a conversation, people often check their phones mid-sentence, signaling distraction or disinterest.

Eye Contact Decline Face-to-face interactions rely on subtle cues—eye contact, body language, tone. But constant screen-checking interrupts these cues, making conversations feel shallow or disconnected.

Shortened Attention Spans The habit of scrolling and multitasking has made sustained, deep conversations harder. People often drift mentally or lose interest quickly, even in meaningful discussions.

The “Always-On” Expectation Being reachable 24/7 has blurred boundaries. It’s now considered rude not to respond quickly, even during personal time or sleep hours. This pressure can lead to burnout and anxiety.

Tech at the Table Meals used to be sacred social time. Now, phones are regular guests at the table—used for photos, texts, or even watching videos mid-meal. It’s changed how families and friend's bond.

Text Over Talk Many prefer texting to calling, which can reduce emotional nuance. Emojis and GIFs try to fill the gap, but they can’t fully replace tone, empathy, or spontaneity.

Smartphones haven’t killed manners—they’ve just rewritten the rulebook. Some people are pushing back, embracing “digital detox” dinners or phone-free zones to reclaim a deeper connection

We all have our own reasons for the breakdown of the American way. I think the demise of the American psyche began with the show American Idol. Which just happens to be correlated with the birth of Trumpism. So, while Trump was Bullshiting his way into the White House, America was singing

America always keeps its nose to the grindstone
