To think It took 248 long years to get this idea called America up and running. It has only taken Trump and his band of trumpets 9 months to bring to its knees. And now president Dumpy is taking steps to criminalize being anti-Trump in America. It puts us all at risk.
It’s a serious claim, and there are recent actions by the Trump administration that civil-liberties groups and some media outlets say could chill dissent or raise First Amendment concerns. Here are several recent executive orders, memoranda, and policies that critics argue could be used to suppress or punish political dissent:
National Security Presidential Memorandum (NSPM-7): “Countering Domestic Terrorism and Organized Political Violence” This directs the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and other federal agencies to investigate, disrupt, and prosecute entities and individuals involved in “politically motivated terrorist acts” or domestic political violence. The White House It also says that behaviors like “doxing campaigns, swatting, rioting, looting, trespass, assault, destruction of property, threats of violence, and civil disorder” are among the prioritized activities. Designation of “Antifa” as a Domestic Terrorist Organization The executive order signed September 22, 2025, designates Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization. Politico Because “Antifa” is loosely defined, decentralized and more of an ideology than a structured organization, critics say this could enable broad application or misapplication. Politico+1
Expanding Authorities over Non-Profit / Funding / Financial Networks Under the new strategy, the Treasury and IRS are instructed to identify and disrupt financial networks that fund domestic terrorism and political violence; ensure that tax-exempt entities do not indirectly support such violence; and refer violators for prosecution. “Organized Political Violence” Definitions Some of the wording is broad: it talks about “intimidation designed to suppress lawful activity,” “radicalization,” etc. Critics warn these could be stretched to encompass protected speech if not carefully limited by law. The White House+1
Revoking Security Clearances, Severing Ties with Law Firms, etc. There are reports that law firms that have defended or investigated Trump, or had attorneys who did, have had security clearances revoked or federal ties severed. Critics see these as using government power to punish or intimidate. Trump cannot legally arrest protesters simply for being against him. However, his administration is taking steps to strengthen enforcement against unlawful behavior at protests, increase federal involvement in handling demonstrations, and use designations like “domestic terrorism” to expand investigative powers. Peaceful protest remains protected under U.S. law, but people who engage in illegal actions during demonstrations can be arrested under existing statutes.
So with that in mind, The next No Kings Day protest is scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 2025. This nationwide, nonviolent day of action will take place across hundreds of cities in all 50 states, with events typically starting in the late morning to early afternoon.
The movement aims to defend democratic norms and reject authoritarianism, rallying around the message: “In America, we don’t do kings.” You can find a local event or get involved through https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/
